When I was younger, I spent countless hours listing all the unattractive things about myself, and how I could change them. I compared myself to friends who were in relationships, random Instagram influencers, and even to “Future Dee” who would sort out all her “problems” and finally be “happy” in a relationship.

If this sounds familiar — I am here to tell you, you are not alone. The need to be in a relationship is instilled in us from a young age, and together with the influence of the media, it is almost inescapable. Almost.
